The SISSEL SPINEFITTER is a versatile training device. It is used to improve spine and joint mobility, as well as relieve tension, shoulder and neck pain, and back pain. The manufacturer SISSEL has developed the SPINEFITTER based on the experience of physiotherapists, osteopaths and Pilates trainers.
And what does it look like in practice? Certified Pilates trainer and therapist Beatrice Eggimann has tested the SPINEFITTER.
What did Beatrice Eggimann think of the “SPINEFITTER” pilates machine?
Bea Eggimann, a medical laboratory technician by training, began her Pilates journey in 2003. In 2010 she expanded to Zurich. Meanwhile, Pilates Bern and Pilates Zurich have grown to 3 studios with a motivated team of 30 trainers.
In addition to her multiple training that keeps her in continuous research, Bea has received training from the “Elders” teachers of the Pilates method, positioning her as a second generation teacher. It is a true pleasure to receive feedback from a professional of Bea's stature, Here we leave you your appreciation.
«I am delighted to open the box, the new SPINEFITTER has arrived and I am curious to try it right away. Intuitively, I lie on it lengthwise and feel the effective massage effect on the extensor muscles of the back. At the same time, I also notice the differences between my right side and my left side, I know that I am not "yet" completely balanced and that I now have a new tool to rebalance my body.
Lie down on the SPINEFITTER and just breathe is wonderful, movements such as rolling the pelvis up and down reinforce the effect on the spine. Especially when the facet joints do not move optimally, as well as with back pain and tension, this little accessory is a real enrichment. I play with the arms, raising and lowering them/opening and closing them, and I get a great massage for the shoulder area and tissues, at the same time as an opening on the chain of the front arms. I know, all my clients with shoulder and neck tension will love it. I also love the lateral position of the SPINEFITTER. The stimulation and massage of the balls on the outside of the thighs - which are usually stuck there - and being able to do exercises in this position on it is a new experience. When I place the SPINEFITTER on my shoulders, I get ideal access to my thoracic spine. This way I can mobilize it and massage it. All my clients with hunched backs will need this! The SPINEFITTER can also be used as an unstable base, which challenges and encourages balance and coordination. Super! The SPINEFITTER can be used in any position: standing, sitting, supine, side, prone and 4-foot position. Creativity has no limits.
Whether for training, therapy or home use, the SPINEFITTER is versatile, lightweight and intuitive. It is light and the material is very comfortable for me, neither too hard nor too soft. Its shape makes it similar to a foam roller, but aligning the 28 balls offers optimized fit and stimulation of the spine and surrounding tissues, giving a whole new boost.
The pressure of the SPINEFITTER and the corresponding exercises stimulate the fascia and muscles alike. The fascia is hydrated and slippery again, the muscles are loosened and strengthened. Mobility is promoted and blockages are released. Looseness and relaxation are encouraged, especially in the shoulder girdle, and coordination and balance can also be tested.
I am looking forward to integrating the SPINEFITTER into my training and therapy sessions, especially for personal training this tool is a real enrichment and can even be wonderfully integrated into Pilates equipment. I am very happy to convey a new movement experience and thus the effect of this unique device to my clients as well as my trainers.
