Neurological Activating-Percussion Hammer
Characteristics
- The neurological activator-percussion method is an integrated chiropractic technique of methods to find and correct subluxations in the spine and other skeletal areas of the body
- In a hand-held instrument capable of creating a dynamic impact that creates a controlled force adjustment in a precise and specific direction, at a high speed, in order to combat subluxation
- Small metal instrument for manual use gives a moderate but powerful thrust that is barely perceptible to the patient.
Thrust is developed by the quick release of a compressed spring within the instrument. It acts mechanically and neurologically and replaces force with high speed
Indications
- It is indicated for all types of patients, especially children, the elderly and all those who dislike manipulation or in whom it is absolutely contraindicated.
- Patients who suffer from any type of back pain (low back pain, neck pain, herniated discs, osteoarthritis) benefit from this method. As it is such a "soft" technique, it has no contraindications. Also those patients with headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, painful shoulder and sacro-iliac pain.
- Combats joint subluxations without forced positions or cracks.
Method and procedures:
When any force, such as a chiropractic correction, invades the body, the muscles in the involved area are automatically contracted by a reflex mechanism, in order to "protect" that area from intrusion. The Activator instrument produces a thrust that is faster than the body's reflex response and can tense local muscles. So, in simple terms, the force needed to move and adjust the assembly is developed by the "speed" of the orientation of the instrument and not by any great "force." Thus, although the activating instrument produces a very effective impulse, it is considered only a very mild sensation.
This technique uses specific procedures to uncover spinal joint dysfunction, analyze lower limb length inequality, uncover body mechanics problems, and test neurological reflexes.
